The Return of Jeffery
I took my clothes off and slipped on my pyjamas, the night was cool and a gentle breeze was blowing my curtain. My bed was soft and felt like a fluffy, warm cloud ready to be slept in. Silently and tired I got into my bed and switched off the light, everything was silent, all there was to hear was a cricket chirping. Sleepily, I drifted off after a long tiring day at work. That night I had a horrible nightmare about this boy… His face was as white as snow and had a smile that was red like lipstick; his eyes were a deep black and looked as if they were laughing with madness. When I woke up my eyes were layered with crusty sleep that made them hard to open. I looked up, something was wrong! I didn’t know what but I could just feel it. Rapidly I searched my mind trying to think of what I had dreamt last night. At last I remembered – I started to feel weak and dizzy… Jeff was back.
Franticly I threw my pyjamas on the floor and put on some tatty old jeans, a battered shirt and some comfy but worn old shoes. I had no time to lose… It was still night time, the sky was a dark gloomy black and the stars shone like lava. Quickly I grabbed my coat and headed towards my car… I needed to find the police but the problem was the station was in the middle of Black Cross Woods, about 45 miles from here to there. Worried and scared I switched on my engine and put a small pocket knife in my drink holder, there was nothing to be seen in the cold, dark night. I slammed on the accelerator forgetting to change gear; the car skidded out of the drive onto the bumpy road beside the outskirts of Black Cross Woods. Suddenly a loud bump echoed around my car, I trembled in fear, slowly I turned my head to see what it was. Jeff was clinging on to the back of my car! LEAVE ALONE YOU DIRTY FREAK I screamed in terror….
